MSA invited by the New York City Mayor’s Office Celebrating the 2014 Sapolin Awards

August 19, 2014

Mona Shah & Associates attorneys Mona Shah, Esq. and Yi Song, Esq. were honored with special invitation from the NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio’s Office to attend the reception celebrating the 2014 Sapolin Awards in honor of the 24th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”).

ADA was enacted by the Congress in 1990. It offers legal protection to Americans with disabilities. The law prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities in employment, transportation, public accommodation, communications, and governmental activities.

MSA represents EB-5 projects that directly support people with disabilities, in particular the New York City Green Transportation EB-5 Project. Mayor De Blasio assured the audience that the voice of the disabled community is represented, and by the year 2020, at least 50% of New York City taxis will be wheelchair accessible. There are currently over 1.16 million New York City residents with disabilities.

Transportation is an important part of New Yorkers daily life. Mona Shah & Associates is honored to contribute to the Public-Private partnership efforts to upgrade the century-old transportation system and bring EB-5 funding to benefit the people of New York.

The event was held at New York Public Library (“NYPL”), one of the most well-known historical landmarks in New York City. NYPL occupies a two-block section of Fifth Avenue between 40th and 42nd Streets. The construction of the main structure commenced in 1902 and library officially opened its doors in 1911.
