Mona provides legal insight into the story, observing that Minaj likely held permanent resident (green card) status long before the Gold Card, with indicators such as political contributions and uninterrupted international travel.

Minaj would likely have been eligible for a derivative green card status as a minor dependant, Mona notes, since her mother was a holder during her childhood. It suggests the Gold Card may expedite citizenship rather than establish residency. n
